Here for a While

Paton's here for a while -- they said probably 10-14 days to fight the infection, and to reevaluate whether he will need a shunt.  A little fluid has returned at his lesion site.  If it continues, they will drain the fluid externally until they can put in the shunt.  So, it'll be a while.  But hopefully we can be sure at the end of this whether or not a shunt is necessary.

  1. Hey bro. I've been checking your blog often since Paton's birth, and there are many people in Greenville and around the US praying for you. I'm sorry to hear he's having more complications, but glad to know they put him back in the hospital to monitor him. I have been encouraged to see the strength the Lord has given you and Jen, and I see in your family what I would want my response to be in the midst of such trials. I know and believe that the Lord has already used your family both in the past and now with yet another trial. He has definitely used you in my life. God has a wonderful plan for little Paton. I was thinking about this the other day and talking with Es about it...God allowed Paton to be born specifically to you and Jen. He could have allowed him to be born to a family who was unsaved or didn't want him because of his disabilities, who would have mistreated or neglected him, who would have put him in an institution and forgotten about him, who would have given him up for adoption (possibly to an unsaved family), or who would have maybe even aborted him and never given him a chance for life. God's plan was for little Paton to be born, and to be born to a family who would treat him as Christ would, who would love him and nurture him, who would share Christ with him from the time he is young, who would raise him to know that God chose him and loves him as he is and has a perfect plan for his life. God CHOSE you and Jen for little Paton, and he chose for Paton to have life, and the details of his life. I think God knew to send Paton to you two, because he knew how you honored & obeyed Him through other trials He has given you. It is a blessing to me to watch you and Jen with David, and I know little Paton will receive the same kind of love that many parents wouldn't give him. I hope I'm making sense? I treasure you and Jen, and the Lord has taught ME many things through the trials in YOUR LIFE, and through the birth of your "little fella". Give all the kids love and hugs from Aunt Sarah. I love you guys and am continuing in prayer for you. May God continue to give you His strength!
